Plot Summary
A young man Chadta searches his ideal mate among demands from his parents to hurry forward and wed. When his son at last meets the woman, Vanjhali of his dreams, his parents are happy after many fruitless attempts with matchmakers but things do not go as expected. In a wedding, Chadta and Vanjhali arrive near. Vanjhali arranges weddings; Chadta is a photographer. Vanjhali is against marriage and advises Chadta to live somewhere else even if she wants to marry. They were working together at a Rajasitan wedding when they became really close. Vanjhali convinces Chadta that marriage is a broken institution. Not too long after that she is engaged to Bagh Singh. Bagh was a sweetheart lost in his past marriage. Although he is not very interested in the wedding, he accepts to wed Vanjhali since she is wealthy and would be a house husband living in her spacious mansion after marriage. Chadta is scheduled for the pre-marriage picture session. He appreciates Bagh for taking Vanjhali even though he knew about her live in with Chadta. Her wedding is called off with this deft comment. Vanjhali’s mother is sure Vanjhali has to be wed to Chadta if he is to save the family name. Though he loves Vanjhali, Chadta acts as though he wants no marriage. Vanjhali disappears on their wedding day since she prefers not to wed Chadta under pressure. While Vanjhali is dining in a dhaba on her trip to Shimla, Chadta discovers him confessing about his love and how he split off her marriage with Bagh Singh. At last they tie the knot.

Production
Punjabi director Diljit Dosanjh revealed his concept for a film on Shadaa, a subject not before covered. Starting pre-production, the team—including Jagdeep Sidhu, Pawan Gill, and Anurag Singh—selected Neeru Bajwa as the main actress. September 2018’s principal filming started.

Critical Reception
Diljit had mixed reviews; some called it noisy and ridiculous while others applauded its humor and wit. Out of five, Gurnaaz Kaur of The Tribune rated it three; Jaspreet Nijher of Times Of India rated it four. Although Ramit Bajaj of Film Companion commended the first two hours, he attacked the latter half hour, calling Jagdeep Sidhu’s performance “dragged”.
Final Thoughts
Delightful performer Shadaa finds a good mix of comedy and poignant events. Fans of Punjabi movies as well as everyone who loves breezy romantic comedy with a cultural touch should definitely see out. It offers precisely what it promises, a fun-filled adventure with unforgettable performances, even though it does not reimagine the genre.Â
