Plot Summary
Saumya tells the cops in Devipur that her husband, Dhruv, tried to kill her. This is the start of the story. A scene illustrates the challenges that Saumya and Dhruv faced in their marriage. Dhruv first liked Saumya’s twin sister Shailee, but he ends up marrying Saumya because his family wants him to. Shailee, on the other hand, still has feelings for Dhruv, which makes things difficult between the sisters. Soon, Dhruv’s violent tendencies reveal themselves, leading to his abuse of Saumya. In one violent event, he pushes her down the stairs.
Police officer Vidya Jyothi (VJ) is looking into a case of domestic abuse involving the couple as the story goes on. Saumya believes Dhruv when he says he wasn’t abused, but later, while paragliding, Saumya and Shailee quietly switch roles, and Shailee breaks Saumya’s harness, which leads to Dhruv being accused of trying to kill her. As the investigation goes on, VJ learns the truth about why Shailee did what she did and how Saumya was abused for years in secret. At the end of the movie, Saumya gets peace, and VJ drops her appeal because she knows that justice doesn’t always follow the law to the letter.

Theme
The story of Do Patti unfolds in the picturesque hills of North India, exploring themes of truthfulness, deception, and the dynamics of family dynamics in the face of complexity. The movie looks at emotional struggles, trauma that lasts for generations, and the search for hidden facts. With strong female characters at its heart, the story shows how to be strong and independent while keeping a suspenseful and intriguing tone.
Reception
The majority of reviews for Do Patti have been negative. Some critics have said that the look at childhood stress was too brief and not deep enough. Rediff.com’s Sukanya Verma gave the movie 2/5 stars, saying that it didn’t deal with pain as deeply as other movies in the same genre, like The Parent Trap. The Indian Express’s Shubhra Gupta gave it 1.5/5 and said the characters were flat, even though the story had promise to be very dramatic. Aakriti Agarwala of The Statesman thought the movie didn’t do a decent job of showing generational pain and patriarchy because the characters and plot were too simple.
Final Verdict
Despite having a great idea and excellent acting, particularly from Kriti Sanon in her dual roles, the execution of Do Patti ultimately fails to live up to expectations. The movie has the potential to create a significant impact, but the characters lack depth and the storyline lacks depth. Despite the movie’s attempt to address serious issues such as domestic violence and trauma passed down from generation to generation, the story lacks depth and fails to evoke strong emotions. So, DoPatti doesn’t live up to its potential, giving fans a disappointing experience.
