Released on Amazon Prime Video in April 2020, Panchayat Season 1 was an unexpected hit with compliments for its innovative approach to narrative, sympathetic characters, and subdued humour. Designed by Deepak Kumar Mishra and produced by The Viral Fever (TVF), the show follows the lives of young engineering graduate Abhishek, who reluctantly accepts a position as the secretary of a rural panchayat in the hamlet of Phulera, Uttar Pradesh, due to lack of better prospects.
